Mental Health Christmas Charity Night 8th December 2017
Melissa Kirk and her family held a Christmas charity night on behalf of Newport Mind in loving memory of their mother Joanne Beaumont who experienced bipolar and depression sadly taking her own life on Mother's Day 2017.
Tickets were priced at £10 per person for entry, entertainment and buffet. They had some brilliant donations for the raffle, and they also held an auction for some of the donations. They had a cake stand with a range of cakes to buy (Christmas cakes, boxed cup-cakes and much more) even though the event was emotional for the family they made it as much fun as possible with a disco and games throughout the night.
The family wanted to raise awareness about mental health as much as they could as they believe, as Newport Mind does, that no one should face a mental health problem alone and we need to push for a better deal and respect for everyone experiencing a mental health problem.
Melissa and her family raised over £2600 for Newport mind as well as getting publicity and increasing awareness of mental health and Newport Mind with articles in the South Wales Argus.
